What keeps a raised car in place?
A parked car spends far more time stationary than moving. Understanding how its platform is held in place matters just as much as understanding how it rises. Here is the division of work in Symtech’s 2,600 kg two-post stack.

Ask how the platform is supported when stationary, and how that support is verified before handover.
The cylinder lifts
A telescopic hydraulic cylinder moves the platform. A power pack supplies the oil needed for the upward movement. The cylinder’s dimensions and operating pressure belong to the specified configuration; they are not interchangeable across systems.
The chain keeps the platform level
The levelling chain links the carriage movement on the two sides. It helps the platform stay level as the cylinder raises it. Its role is different from that of the hydraulic lift or the stationary locks.
Mechanical locks support the raised platform
In this configuration, locks engage mechanically at the raised position and use electrical power to release. The inspection procedure checks the locks with hydraulic pressure released, so the support is tested rather than assumed.
The checks matter as much as the components
A component list does not establish that an installation is ready to use. Symtech’s procedure includes checks on anchors, alignment, hydraulics, electrical protection and operation under load.
Before handover, ask for the inspection record, operating instructions and a clear maintenance arrangement. Operators should understand the retrieval sequence and the controls for their installation.
